Frequently asked questions
The things people usually ask before they order.
How is Legally Sorted different from AI document tools?
Legally Sorted is run by Corporate Legal Pty Ltd, an incorporated legal practice in Parramatta, NSW. It is a law practice, not a technology company.
Every template was written by a NSW solicitor from precedents used in real matters, and is reviewed and updated when the law changes. Your document is built from that fixed, solicitor-approved wording. It is not written from scratch by a chatbot, so the same answers always give you the same tested clauses.
Our questions also flag when your situation is outside what a template safely covers, and send you to a solicitor for a fixed-fee quote instead of producing a document that does not fit.
If you choose Solicitor-checked, a solicitor at our practice reviews your answers and the document before you receive it. That work is done under the professional and ethical obligations that apply to every NSW solicitor, and our practice holds professional indemnity insurance.
Who is behind Legally Sorted?
Legally Sorted is a business name of Corporate Legal Pty Ltd (ABN 52 640 661 847), an incorporated legal practice in New South Wales. Our templates are written and kept current by a practising solicitor with over 10 years in property and commercial law. Corporate Legal has been operating since 2020, with 1,400+ clients and 230+ five-star Google reviews.
What is the difference between DIY and Solicitor-checked?
DIY: your document is completed from your answers and ready to download straight away. No solicitor reviews it, and it is not legal advice.
Solicitor-checked: a solicitor reviews your answers and the document, makes the changes needed in 1 round of review, and releases it to you, usually within 1 to 3 business days. The fee is fixed and does not change with the time spent.
When is my card charged?
DIY: when your document is generated, straight after checkout.
Solicitor-checked: your card is only authorised at checkout and is charged when we deliver your document. If you cancel before the solicitor starts the review, nothing is charged. If you cancel after the review has started, we keep 50% of the fee.
Can I upgrade a DIY document to Solicitor-checked later?
Yes. Within 30 days after your DIY document is delivered, use the upgrade button on your order page. You can check and change your answers first, and the price you paid for DIY comes off the Solicitor-checked fee.
What if my situation is more complicated?
Some answers mean a template is not the right fit, for example an unusual structure or a dispute. When that happens we tell you, and you can request a fixed-fee quote from a solicitor instead. Quotes usually arrive within 1 business day and nothing is charged unless you accept.
Is there a subscription, or anything I need to cancel later?
No. You pay once for the document you choose. There is no subscription, no free trial that turns into a charge, and no account to close, so there is nothing to cancel later.
What exactly does the fixed price include?
DIY: your completed document in Word and PDF, and the plain-English guide. If the document does not reflect the answers you gave, we fix it or regenerate it.
Solicitor-checked: a solicitor reviews your answers and the document, makes the changes needed in 1 round of review, and delivers the final document in Word and PDF with a short note of the main changes. 1 round of review means 1 review and set of changes based on the information you have given us.
Not included: negotiating with the other side, advice outside the document, registering or lodging it, and further changes because your instructions change after delivery. If you need any of these, we give you a written fixed-fee quote first. We never start extra work, or charge for it, without your written agreement.
Who reviews my Solicitor-checked document?
Solicitor-checked orders are reviewed by Zohra Ali, principal solicitor of Corporate Legal, or by a solicitor working under her supervision.
Will anyone call me to sell me something?
No. We do not make sales calls. We only contact you about your order, or when you ask us to.
How quickly will you reply to me?
We reply to messages and quote requests within 1 business day. Solicitor-checked documents are released within 1 to 3 business days.
Is a DIY document legal advice?
No. A DIY document is completed automatically from your answers and is not reviewed by a solicitor. If you want advice about your situation, choose Solicitor-checked or request a quote.
Do your documents work outside NSW?
Our documents are prepared for the law of New South Wales and the Commonwealth. Some may not suit other States or Territories. If your matter is outside NSW, request a quote and we will tell you what we can do.
What do I receive?
A completed Word document (and usually a PDF copy), together with a plain-English guide to finishing, signing and, where needed, witnessing or stamping it. Your download links are on your order page, and we email you when your document is ready.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You answer the questions, pay with your email address, and we send your document and receipt to that email. Your draft answers are saved in your own browser until you check out.
Can I get a refund?
Because a DIY document is generated and delivered straight away, we do not refund a change of mind. If the document does not reflect the answers you gave, or something goes wrong on our side, tell us within 30 days and we will fix it, regenerate it or refund you. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected.
Is my information confidential? Where is it stored?
Yes. As a law practice we owe duties of confidentiality to our clients. Your orders, answers, uploads and documents are stored in Australia, and files can only be reached through private links that expire. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.
Can I change my document after I receive it?
Your document is a Word file, so you can edit it. Be careful: changes you make yourself are not checked by us. If you want a solicitor to look at your changes, request a quote.
Still have a question?
Send us a message and a solicitor will get back to you, usually within 1 business day.
